According to a study from Oxford University published in the journal Pediatrics, up to an hour of video games each day can actually be good for kids.  The kids in the study were ages 10-15 and showed signs that they were less hyperactive, more social, and happier than those who did not.  The key, it seems, has to do with the amount of game play.  Less than an hour seems to be best.  An hour to three hours shows no positive or negative effects.  And, over three hours a day resulted in kids who are “less well-adjusted.”  (But they also made sure to mention that video gaming did not play as big of a difference in behavior as family and personal relationships).

A TON of articles have been written about this study.  Check a few of them out below:

  1. I’ve been gaming since I was a young lad, and I can’t say it has caused a drastic negative effect on my life. Sure, I could have played less and focused more on school and career, but I have yet to feel I want to pul a gun on anyone or hijack a car 😉

Everything in moderation really, but gaming can be as social as you want it to be. It’s my central hub for my friend circle, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

  2. Hey! love this article. Good to see a parent that supports video games and is sharing the news that gaming can actually have positive outcomes. A lot of people still find it difficult to look over the mainstream medias stance on video games.

I did a similar article on this topic on my blog! Would love for you to check it out.
